Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru has secured the third position in a global ranking of the most family-friendly airports for 2026. The list, released by AttractionTickets.com — a leading travel experience provider based in the United Kingdom — evaluated airports worldwide on their suitability for families travelling with children.
KIA scored 18.6 out of a maximum 20 points in the study, placing it behind Helsinki-Vantaa Airport at number one and Singapore's Changi Airport at number two. Bahrain International Airport ranked fourth, while Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport came in fifth. Only two Indian airports made it to the top ten, with KIA leading the domestic entries.
Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), which operates KIA, stated that the ranking assessed airports across nine parameters. These included Google review ratings, dedicated children's play areas, family security lanes, baby-changing facilities, stroller and pram hire, sleep pods and rest zones, quality Wi-Fi for streaming, airport size, and support for neurodivergent families.
BIAL highlighted that KIA's recognition stems from initiatives such as India's first sensory room for neurodivergent passengers, an inclusive art programme, and a range of family-focused amenities. These efforts aim to create a more engaging and less stressful travel environment.
According to AttractionTickets.com, the analysis began with a seed list of over 140 popular airports. Data was collected and analysed in May 2026. "Each location was then given a total score out of 20, based on performance across all nine data points. These scores formed the basis of the final ranking, revealing which destinations are most likely to ease pre-holiday stress while also being well-reviewed and top-of-mind for those planning an overseas holiday," the company said.
