The incident took place around 3.30 am today in the bungalow of ACP Bharat Gaikwad of Baner area. An officer of Chatursringi police station said that the reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained.
Gaikwad was posted as ACP in Amravati and the police said the tragic incident took place when he came home. ACP Gaikwad first shot his wife in the head around 3.30 am today. Hearing the gunshot, the son and nephew ran and opened the door. Officials said he shot his nephew as soon as he opened the door. Gaikwad then shot himself in the head. All three died on the spot, he said. The other two deceased have been identified as police officer’s wife Moni Gaikwad (44) and nephew Deepak (35). The police said that the incident is being investigated.
