Government in preparation to airlift the people of Meitei community amid Manipur Violence

 

When the video went viral and it was criticized across the country, then the state government became active. Before the commencement of the Parliament session in Delhi, the Prime Minister expressed his anger over the whole matter and clearly said that the culprits would be given the harshest punishment.

In the midst of the situation of conflict between the Meitai and Kuki communities of Manipur, the government has now made a new plan. Biren government is now preparing to airlift the people of Meitai community from Mizoram. No information has been revealed regarding how long the people will be airlifted. Mizoram Police has beefed up security in Aizawl city to ensure the safety of the Meitei community. An ex-militant organization had asked the Meitais to leave the state for their safety.

According to the organization, there is a lot of anger among the youth of Mizoram after the incident of two women being paraded naked by a group of miscreants in Manipur. This incident that happened in the past is being criticized across the country. The women seen in the video belong to the Kuki community. Police has so far arrested a total of 5 people in this case.

According to Hindustan Times, the people of the community will be evacuated from Mizoram through Aizawl-Imphal and Aizawl-Silchar ATR flights. The Mizoram government on 22 July has assured security to the Meitai community living in the state. The state government has also said that the local public should not pay attention to the rumours. State Home Commissioner and Secretary H. Lalengmawia held a meeting with leaders of the Meitei community and assured them of their safety, PTI quoted an official statement as saying.
