The National Commission for Women on Thursday said it has directed Twitter India to take down a video showing a humiliating act in which two women were paraded naked and assaulted in violence-hit Manipur.
Twitter India’s head of public policy has been formally directed to take down the video, which was tweeted by the National Commission for Women, showing the humiliating act of parading two women in the nude. The victim in the video can be identified and it is a punishable offence.

A case of kidnapping, gang-rape and murder has been registered at the Nongpok Sekmai police station in Thoubal district against the unidentified armed men who committed the heinous act, the police said. More than 150 people have lost their lives and many others have been injured since communal violence broke out in Manipur on May 3.
