New Delhi: Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has responded regarding the support on UCC i.e. Uniform Civil Code. He has expressed concern over the implementation of UCC. He says that the basis of fear regarding UCC is that the rights enjoyed by the community may not be violated. That’s why the Congress party has decided that it will not say anything until the draft comes out.

Former Union Minister and Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said that there is a concern which is based on fear that rights enjoyed by different communities may be violated. We have to first see what the government’s proposal is. The government has not yet put out the draft nor started any discussion with the stakeholders. That’s why the Congress party has decided that it will not say anything until the draft comes out… It took us 9 years after independence to even bring the Hindu Code Bill and that’s why it takes time to convince people.
