Mumbai, July 01: A terrible tragedy took place in Maharashtra on Saturday morning. At least 25 people, including three children, were killed when a bus caught fire on Maharashtra’s Samriddhi Mahamarg Expressway.
25 dead bodies were recovered from the bus. A total of 32 people were traveling in the bus. 6-8 people were injured. The injured are being shifted to Buldhana Civil Hospital,” Buldhana Police Deputy SP Baburao Mahamuni said, ANI reported.
Around 33 people were traveling in the Pune-bound bus when the accident occurred around 2 am on the Samriddhi-Mahamarg Expressway, officials said. Police said the bus overturned and caught fire after hitting a pillar on the expressway.
Police informed that the bus driver, who survived the accident, said that the bus hit a pillar after the tire exploded. Buldana Superintendent of Police Sunil Kadasane said that 25 people were burnt in the accident and the injured including the bus driver were sent to the hospital for treatment.

He informed that a case has been registered and investigation is being conducted. “The first priority at the moment is to identify the bodies and hand them over to their family members,” Kadasane said.
