Illegal mining case: Trouble for MLA Satish Sail
Bengaluru, June 20: Congress MLA Satish Sail from Karwar is in trouble in the illegal mining case. Also, an ex-employee of his company is going to testify against him, which will be a big blow for Sail. It is being said that if he reveals the truth, it is Butti who created the problem for Sail.
The High Court upheld the CBI special court’s order allowing the fourth accused in the case, Sushil Kumar Valecha, a former employee of the approver company, to testify in the illegal mining case against Shri Mallikarjuna Shipping Pvt Ltd, of which the MLA is the managing director.
Justice M dismissed the criminal petition filed by Mallikarjuna Shipping Pvt Ltd and MLA Satish Sail challenging the order of the special court. The bench headed by Nagaprasanna ordered. Also, the CBI has directed the special court to make all efforts to complete the case expeditiously.
In the event that the truth of the case is known, the concerned court has the right to pardon the accused and grant him permission to testify. Accordingly, the High Court held that the court can exercise its jurisdiction and permit the accused to be a witness.
What is the case?: The CBI had registered a case against Mr. Mallikajur’s Shipping Pvt. Ltd., the managing director of which is Mr. Satish Sail, for alleged illegal mining. Satish Sail was arrested in connection with the case and released on bail.
The CBI officials have completed the investigation and submitted the charge sheet. Many of the accused had filed an application seeking to drop the charges against them. They were rejected by the CBI court. In addition, charges have been framed against several accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act.
At this stage, the fourth accused in the case, Sunil Kumar Valecha (73), a former employee of Sri Mallikajun Shipping Company and director of Sri Lal Mahal Limited Company based in New Delhi, pleaded guilty and sought permission to testify.
She was just an employee of Mallikarjuna Shipping Company. At present, he wanted to be a witness in the case and requested permission to do so. The CBI special court granted that application and ordered on 27th A.D. 2021. The company of MLA Satish Sail and others had filed an application in the High Court seeking cancellation of this order.
