WTC Final 2023: Another shock for the Indian team after the defeat!

The Indian team, which had lost in the final match of the World Test Championship, faced another shock. India and Australia have been fined heavily for slow over rates. While the Indian team lost by 209 runs in the final match at Kennington Oval, Australia celebrated by winning the title with a resounding victory.

The Australian team will lose 80 percent of their match money. Indian team will lose the entire match fee due to slow over rate. This is like pouring salt on the wound for the Indian team, which is already bored with Solo.

It was decided that while the Australian team was four overs short of the target, the Indian team was five overs short. As stated in Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Staff, a team that fails to bowl within the time allowed will be fined 20 per cent of their match fee for each over.

Shubman Gill fined

Indian opener Shubman Gill has also been fined for violating the rules of the game. After falling victim to the controversial verdict, he condemned it on his social media. This contravened Rule 2.7 and was fined 15 per cent of the match fee.

Cameron Greene was caught at slip by Shubman Gill. Third umpire Richard Kettleborough ruled it out. However, many were of the opinion that the ball had hit the ground, Gill shared this photo on social media.

India lost the final for the second time in a row

The Indian team qualified for the World Test Championship final for the second time in a row. In 2021, the Indian team lost the final match against New Zealand, this time too, despite winning the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia and qualifying for the final, they stumbled in the final match and lost the chance to win the ICC trophy again.
