Four children survived 40 days in the Amazon jungle eating seeds, roots!

 

Bogota, June. 11: Four children who had been missing for 40 days were found in the Colombian Amazon. However, it was a surprise to everyone that he survived in that forest for so many days. True, the four lost children survived by eating seeds, roots, and plants in the forest.

Four missing children have been found alive thanks to the knowledge of local youths involved in the search alongside Colombian forces. According to the National Organization of Indigenous Peoples of Colombia (OPIAC), “the survival of children is a sign of the knowledge and relationship with the natural environment taught in the mother’s womb.”

 

 

On May 1, a Colombian helicopter was en route from a jungle location to San Jose del Guayar, one of the major cities in Colombia’s Amazon rainforest, when it crashed. Three people including the pilot and the children’s mother were killed. One of the passengers, Ranok and his wife Mukutui, are Huetotos and a mother of four. It is said that the family of the children was traveling in the hope that the children would get to know the forest.

There was no trace of the four children traveling in the plane. Children aged 13, 9 and 4, including an 11-month-old baby, were reported missing in the forest in South Caqueta division after the accident. Based on this, the rescuers of the armed forces intensified the search efforts. Authorities had deployed more than 100 soldiers with sniffer dogs to search for the children.

Yucca aboard the crashed plane survived by eating flour and relief parcels dropped by search helicopters. Luis Acosta of Colombia’s National Indigenous Institute (ONIC) told AFP that he also ate seeds, fruits, roots and plants that his family told him were edible in the Amazon region.

The “Operation Hope” search for the children was difficult amid giant trees that grew up to 40 meters high, wild animals and heavy rain. Three helicopters were deployed for assistance. One of the children had received a voice message in Hueto language telling them to stop the plane moving through the forest. Children were found behind it.
