Ghaziabad Elderly Man Assault Case: UP Police Team Moves SC Against Karnataka HC’s Protection to Twitter India Head

Noida: The Uttar Pradesh Police on Tuesday approached the Supreme Court against an order passed by the Karnataka High Court that gave Twitter India Managing Director Manish Maheshwari temporary protection from arrest or any coercive action in connection with an FIR over tweets about the assault of a Muslim man in Ghaziabad district’s Loni area.

Earlier last week on June 24, the Karnataka High Court restrained Ghaziabad police, which has summoned him in connection with a probe related to the assault of an elderly Muslim man there, from initiating coercive action against him. The single bench of Justice G Narender said the police can examine Maheshwari through virtual mode

If the police desire to examine the petitioner (Manish Maheshwari), they may do so through virtual mode,” the court said.
