Uttarakhand in Champawat by-election for polling; CM Dhami in fray
Former BJP MLA Kailash Gehtori resigned from Champawat last month Dhami is the seat from the contest
Uttarakhand in the Champawat assembly seat for polling began Tuesday morning.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who lost Khatima In the state assembly polls held in February, the MLA of Champawat to become a MLA – a constitutional requirement – to fulfill his requirements within six months of being sworn in.
Former BJP MLA Kailash Gehtori resigned from Champawat last month Dhami is the seat from the contest.
Mr. Dhami is locked in a straight contest with Congress’ Nirmala Gehtori in Champawat located in the state of Kumaon region.
Other candidates in the fray are Samajwadi Party’s Manoj Kumar Bhatt and Independent Himanshu Gadkoti.
Mr. Dhami campaigned aggressively in Champawat along with Kailash Gehtori on May 9 to file his nominations, asking people to give him a chance to serve him.
BJP star campaigner and chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath has also been asked by Dhami in Tanakpur for his rapid development for a chief minister of the state.
There are 96,213 voters in the Champawat constituency, including 50,171 men and 46,042 women.
