Naveen Srivastava elected India’s new Ambassador to Nepal
New Delhi: May 18 (UNI) veteran diplomat Naveen Srivastava has been appointed as India’s new Ambassador to Nepal on Tuesday.
A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Nepal’s Lumbini, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEA) announced the appointment. Srivastava, 1993 Batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS), is currently serving as Additional Secretary at MEA.
Two weeks ago, Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Quatra was serving as India’s ambassador to Nepal.
“Naveen Srivastava, who is currently the additional secretary in the ministry, has been appointed India’s next ambassador to Nepal. He is likely to be deployed soon, the MEA said in a brief statement.
As additional secretary in the East Asia Division, Srivastava led the Indian delegation in several rounds of diplomatic talks with China over the East Ladakh border.
