$45 million.. Saudi Arabia launches the Electronic Games Festival

Under the title “Gamers Season: Land of Champions”, players from around the world are participating in an e-sports festival in Saudi Arabia, with prizes amounting to $45 million.
The competition is organized by the Saudi Federation for Electronic Sports, and its prizes amount to 45 million dollars distributed over 15 tournaments, including the Club World Cup.
Omar Batterjee, Head of Marketing, Communications and Partnerships at the Saudi Electronic Sports Federation, said: “We have an ambition to transfer esports from a less popular or less official sport to something similar to football today, and this is what we aspire to.”
The competition started on July 6 and will last for 8 weeks, punctuated by huge events and international parties, with the participation of players from different countries of the world.
The Saudi Electronic Sports Federation, driven by more than 21 million gamers in the kingdom, hopes to turn Saudi Arabia into a hub for esports in the world.
