34 deaths in 24 hours due to heatstroke in Uttar Pradesh!

Lucknow: In spite of Cyclone Biporjoi in North India, the heat wave continues and it is known that 34 people have died in Uttar Pradesh in the last 24 hours due to heat stroke.

At least 34 people have lost their lives due to severe heatstroke at the Ballia District Hospital in Uttar Pradesh, and most of the patients admitted to the hospital are above the age of 60, health officials said on Friday.

Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Jayant Kumar said that the district is reeling under severe heat. People are admitted to hospital for treatment. 34 people died in the last two days, 23 people died on June 15 and 11 people died on June 16. Also, all the deceased who have been admitted to the hospital are suffering from various diseases. Along with this, the elderly are unable to tolerate the heat of the sun, he said.

District Hospital Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) Diwakar Singh said that fans, coolers and air conditioners have been arranged in the hospital to provide rest to the patients and staff and prevent the risk of heat stroke. The number of doctors and paramedical staff has been increased. People have been advised to follow precautions to prevent heat stroke.

Along with Ballia, the entire central and eastern Uttar Pradesh was reeling under the scorching sun, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Friday, Ballia recorded a maximum temperature of 42.2 degrees Celsius, 4.7 degrees above normal.
