2-yr-old dies after falling from 4th floor on his b’day
Bengaluru: A toddler died after falling from the fourth floor of a residential building in Rajajinagar, ‘E’ Block north Bengaluru, on Thursday even as his parents were busy preparing for his second birthday party.
R Manish sneaked out of the family’s third-floor house and climbed the stair railings to go to the fourth floor to play. But he slipped and fell down. Nobody noticed him falling though, police said. This happened around 4.30 pm.
It was Lakshmi, a tenant living on the ground floor, who got alarmed by a loud thud and rushed out. She was stunned to find the child lying on the ground and bleeding. She screamed and alerted everyone.
Manish’s parents — Ramesh and Savitha — and some neighbours took the child to St Theresa Hospital in Rajajinagar but it was too late. The child was declared brought dead.
The body was turned over to the family on Friday after the post-mortem was conducted at the Victoria Hospital. The Subramanyanagar police have registered a case of unnatural death and are carrying out further investigation.
Manish was the only son of Ramesh and Savitha, who hail from Nagamangala town in Mandya. He had turned two on Thursday and his excited parents were so engrossed in organising his birthday party that they left him unattended while he was playing with other children in the building.
The parents had invited friends, neighbours and relatives for the party. Ramesh and Savitha are married for more than seven years now. Savitha works in the accounts department at MS Ramaiah Hospital while Ramesh is a car driver.
