Greece plans to bring more rescued people to a camp for registration on the island of Kos. People smugglers routinely bring people on the dangerous sea voyage from Turkey and North African countries to EU member states Greece, Cyprus and Italy.
In mid-June, several hundred people died when an overcrowded fishing boat sank about 50 nautical miles (93 km) off the Greek coast.
