1 arrested for duping a man over a work visa in Mangaluru
MANGALURU: One person has been arrested by city police for allegedly collecting money from a victim after promising them a work visa for Lithuania.
IIt is reported that the complainant, who did not have a proper job, decided to work abroad and spoke to the accused – Jeri Ithiel Sikha, 32 – in the first week of April. According to the complaint, the complainant was offered a work visa for an office job in Lithuania with a salary of Rs 3.5 lakh per month in exchange for a payment of Rs 5.5 lakh.

Sources said the complainant pledged jewels and paid Rs 1 lakh cash and another lakh was transferred to the bank account of the accused through NEFT. On realising the agency was not authorised, the complainant asked for a refund. When the complainant failed to get the visa or refund, a complaint was filed at the Mangaluru North Police.
The accused was offering jobs in Lithuania and Australia and had connections with recruitment firms in Bengaluru, it is learnt.
City police commissioner N Shashi Kumar said police have already released a list of authorized recruitment agents in Mangaluru City and requested people to approach police in case they have been cheated. “More victims have approached police after they heard about this case,” he said.
